If you are reading the sepsis article, you may be confused about the upper arm circumference. The authors wrote:
...most patients were malnourished, with a median upper arm circumference of 20.1 cm (IQR, 18.4-22.9 cm).
Here are the values from the US NHANES study. Twenty centimeters is small.
